The IE Domain Registry has announced that they will be enabling multiyear registrations of IE domains later this week.
From 6pm on Wednesday 13th 2008 it will be possible to register IE domains for 1,2,3,4,5 or 10 years at a time.
(Why you cannot register a domain for 6,7,8 or 9 years hasn’t been explained as yet).

Registration periods of 1-10 years are permitted by IEDR.
6,7,8 & 9 year periods were added
