ISOC to Hold Webinar on the PIR Sale

This week at the IGF in Berlin one of the hot topics being discussed both in hallways and various sessions is the sale of PIR by ISOC.

Yesterday at lunchtime Access Now organised a “town hall” in the hallway where several current and former ISOC board members were in attendance.

Several of the ISOC board members spoke at the event and tried to explain their thinking. Rather than paraphrase what was said I’ll point to the blog post from one of the current board members explaining why the ISOC Board voted unanimously in favour of the sale.

However no matter what current board members or others may say about the sale it’s very clear that many people are upset with both the sale itself and how it played out.

To that end ISOC is organising a webinar for its members on Friday at 1300 UTC. You can sign up for the webinar via the ISOC member extranet.

Oddly the webinar will only be 30 minutes long and is being held the day after Thanksgiving at a time which will be really awkward for most US based people. I sincerely doubt that a 30 minute webinar will be long enough to cover the questions and concerns that many people have about the sale.
