NZ Domain Dispute Rules Consultation Open

August 21, 2024 by Michele Neylon

The .nz country code top level domain name is that associated with New Zealand. In common with many domain name registries it has its own particular set of rules and procedures for the handling of disputes involving .nz domain names.

Earlier this week the New Zealand Domain Name Commission opened a public consultation on the dispute resolution scheme. The consultation period runs from August 20th 2024 until September 19th 2024.

Apparently the current system has been in place with practically no changes for about 20 years, so some updates and tweaks were probably long overdue. I’ll freely admit that I am far from expert on the .nz DRS, but most of the proposed changes seem quite reasonable and should make the overall experience a lot saner and more pleasant for both sides of a domain dispute.

You can read more about the consultation along with the proposed changes to the rules and processes here. They’ve also provided a nice overview of the changes so you can see the current wording side by side with the new language.
