The IEDR, which is the current registry operator for dotIE (.ie), announced today that its quarter 1 registration figures were the highest to date. Though the press release doesn't mention that Q4 is shorter due to the Christmas break, which leads to … [Read more...] about IE Domain Registry Announces Record Growth

New TLDs Need Sanity

May 5, 2009 by Michele Neylon

The much vaunted launch of the new TLDs as announced at the ICANN Paris meeting last year is probably a bit of a damp squid in many respects.Don't expect to see any actual progress there until next year at the earliest. In the meantime you can read all about the plans people have for launching their "solutions".The problem with some of the proposed "solutions" is simply that … [Read more...] about New TLDs Need Sanity

May 5, 2009 by Michele Neylon

As yesterday was a holiday in Ireland I didn't get a chance to mention this ... Trawling through domain dispute data can be vaguely amusing, if you're a bit bored on a Saturday... April 30, 2009 by Michele Neylon

One of the things that I love about the guys at dotMobi is their tireless work to promote the mobile internet.Their latest move is the release of the Wordpress Mobile Pack which is probably the most comprehensive suite of tools to render a CMS powered site "mobile ready" (put another way, it makes mobifying your site dead easy). So what is included?Looking at the release notes … [Read more...] about Dotmobi Release WordPress Mobile Pack

A recent post on MarkMonitor's corporate blog, which was also published on Circleid, dealt with the recent issues affecting several prominent .nz domains. ICANN IRT Report Open For Comment With Short Timeframe

April 25, 2009 by Michele Neylon

The Intellectual Property Constituency's draft report on trademark issues is now available for comment. The draft report was put together behind closed doors, which would appear to go against the normal policy development process at ICANN, which is quite worrying. Its contents, however, are even more disturbing. While reading the 48 page document, which is littered with … [Read more...] about ICANN IRT Report Open For Comment With Short Timeframe
