dotmobi makes changes in management team

Just got a press release from dotmobi to say that they’ve just appointed a new CEO:

DUBLIN, Ireland and
WASHINGTON, DC – September 12, 2007 – dotMobi, the consortium behind the only
Internet address created specifically for mobile phones, has appointed Trey
Harvin, longtime Internet and technology veteran, as CEO of dotMobi and David
Ryder as VP of Marketing and Sales. In their respective roles, Harvin and Ryder
will be charged with building on the success of dotMobi to date and taking the
company forward with more innovative products for expanding the use of the
mobile web.

Over the past year, Dublin-based dotMobi has
launched its developer portal and associated tools – dev.mobi, site.mobi and
ready.mobi – and has also seen approximately 700,000 .mobi domains registered.

With more than three million indexed pages of
dotMobi content currently available, the world’s biggest brands including BMW,
The Sun newspaper, Disney, Paramount, Maxim magazine, Ferrari, Rolls Royce,
Microsoft and Google have launched .mobi sites, prompting .mobi development in
key industry sectors such as travel, media, real estate, automobiles and
entertainment.

“With this strong foundation, dotMobi is
entering a new and exciting growth phase,” said Trey Harvin, CEO of dotMobi. “In
the next two quarters we will focus on growing mobile services for the
development community and the enterprise with the launch of key products such as
the our device database and search services.”

Neil
Edwards
, who
was the founding CEO of dotMobi and who grew the company from a fledgling
concern to a vital part of the mobile Web infrastructure, will pursue
opportunities closer to his family in the United States.

Jerry Easom, Chairman of the dotMobi Board,
said, “On behalf of the Board, I thank Neil for his strong efforts in bringing
dotMobi to life. Over the past two years, he has worked closely with the 14
investor members of the Board to create a simple way for consumers around the
world to find and access content on their mobile phones. His work has helped
grow the global use of mobile Internet significantly. We are also happy to
welcome Trey Harvin and David Ryder to the senior management team to continue
the good work.”

Harvin will assume responsibilities as CEO
immediately, having worked closely with Edwards to ensure a smooth transition.
Among his initial projects will be a launch of an open database service designed
to assist developers in building mobile content and a new, leading-edge mobile
content database.

Harvin,
previously a senior executive and management consultant at several wireless and
Internet start-up technology companies,
served as Vice President of Business
Operations at leading internet company VeriSign. He also was Vice President of
Product Development at Network Solutions as well as Network Solutions’ Chief of
Staff.

Ryder has extensive mobile experience as VP
Operations and Sales of the ESPN Mobile division as well as several senior
management roles at British Telecom, specializing in Marketing, Product
Development and Technology across fixed, mobile and Internet.

It will be very interesting to see if Edwards’ replacement will have the same passion and drive that made Edwards such an interesting and charismatic character.
