Eurid To Keep .EU?

According to a news alert I received last night, Eurid’s contract to manage the .eu namespace has been renewed for a further 5 years.

The news, which appears to have either been broken or leaked at the Eurid registrar dinner last night in Mexico city appeared on a French domain news site, but has since vanished.

If anyone can confirm or deny this news it would be helpful

  1. If EURid gets to keep .eu ccTLD then it is proof of EU incompetence and cronyism. EURid destroyed .eu as a viable ccTLD for people in the EU by sheer incompetence. If this is true it is an amazingly decision.

  3. But EURid is just a clone of DNS.be and I think that DNS.be is introducing DNSSEC as well. It would be an amazingly bad decision by the EU Commission to allow EURid to keep .eu ccTLD.

  4. God help us that EurId decide to do something right, rather than what looks good. Clearly a retirement plan for some eurocrats…
    My surname, Typosquatted, never! & no, I’m not paying €1300 in the ADR.
    I even once sent an email to them about this, the reply while sympathetic (ie. obvious I had a case), was pay or no action.

    Do you have facts that actually demonstrate your sentence ?

    From what I read in the “Eurocrats” staff regulations, and particularly Title II, articles 11a, 12b and 16, they are prevented to do so.

    They have their own retirement plan, which is covered by Annex VIII of the same regulation. Without going into too much detail here, I can assure you that the 13% of their salary they contribute to the plan will grant them a decent pension.
