Kz Registry Wants Domains To Be In Country?

May 29, 2011 by Michele Neylon

It looks like the .kz domain registry is taking rather odd steps to control their namespace.

They’re basically demanding that all .kz domains be hosted “in country”!

At least that’s my understanding of the text below – decide for yourself:

We hereby notify you that, in accordance with paragraph 6 of the Order of the
Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 220
dated September 7, 2010 “On approval of rules for registration, use and
allocation of domain space in the Kazakhstan segment of the Internet” with the
prolongation of support of the domain name mneylon.kz you should modify the
domain name and specify the location of the server hardware on the territory
of the Republic of Kazakhstan where an internet resource is placed.

n this connection, you should modify your domain name until 29-06-2011 using
the modification template http://nic.kz/templates/domain-template.jsp.
Otherwise, in accordance with paragraph 9 and paragraph 11 of the Rules, the
domain name registration should be suspended and canceled.
