IEDR Hiring

The IEDR is hiring to fill a couple of roles.

One of the roles is “Registration Services Administrator” which sounds like an entry level position (€23k / year) processing new domain name registrations and transfers:

Reviewing, authenticating and processing automated applications (tickets) for new registrations received from customers, and ensuring these applications are in compliance with the Registry’s policies and procedures.
Authenticating and processing modification and transfer requests from customers  of existing .ie addresses in compliance with the Registry’s  policies and procedures
Logging of supporting documentation as required for registrations, transfers, modifications and non renewal requests in compliance with the Registry’s policies and procedures.
Liaising and providing high quality support for clients on all registration and other matters.

The other position is “Business Development Executive” and the salary details aren’t specified. Here’s the job description:

The Business Development Executive will have the challenging task of identifying the potential for new business opportunities in order to increase the company’s revenue via net growth in the .ie domain database and as such IEDRs’ interaction with its customers is a vital and important role.

Reporting directly to the Finance & Operations Manager, the successful candidate’s role will include but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with and working with IEDRs’ existing customer base (ie IEDR Accredited Registrars who are principally HSPs, but also include ISPs, security firms, trademark agents and web developers) to help them maximise their new registration growth and to minimise their levels of non-renewals of .ie domain names.  It will be necessary to develop an understanding of the drivers for new registrations and help Accredited Registrars remove any barriers to growth within their control.
  • Research, identify and attract new Accredited Registrars, domestically and internationally and secure their agreement to add .ie to their portfolios.  This will include frequent travel to meet with prospective customers (potentially Accredited Registrars in the UK, Northern Ireland and possibly the USA)
  • Analyse market conditions, gather information on .ie competitors, generate leads, write proposals, prepare presentations, make sales pitches, build customer relationships and create marketing campaigns all targeted at new Accredited Registrars
  • Identify new business opportunities with Accredited Registrars aimed at strategically increasing the company’s market position and hence its potential for solid financial growth
  • Communication of promotions or marketing information to these customers with a view to generating net volume growth for the company
  • Feedback to Management on all interactions with the Accredited Registrar Group including the preparation of monthly reports and KPIs.  Collating commentary and suggestions from Accredited Registrar contacts, and generating call reports.  Keeping Accredited Registrars updated on the progress
  • Managing external relationships with Registrants, their agents (Registrars), Representative Industry Bodies (IIA, INEX, ISPAI, ICANN, /CENTR) and the Local Internet Community

Requirements / Qualifications for the role:

Essential:

  • University Degree or equivalent 3rd level qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role is required with particular emphasis on experience of and familiarity with the internet ecosystem.  Candidates should also have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in sales, marketing or finance.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and eligible to work in Ireland
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Internet and email and MS Project
  • Proven problem-solving skills and experience in delivering practical solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and independently
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with the flexibility and adaptability in the context of the demands of  unstructured workflow

Desirable but not essential:

  • Previous working experience with another Registry (ccTLD or gTLD) / ISP (internet service provider) or HSP (hosting service provider)
  • Knowledge and experience in using Web-Based Management Systems
  • An understanding of web hosting or DNS technical processes
