CloudFest to Have Robot Keynote (Literally!)

January 18, 2018 by Michele Neylon

Cloudfest (Aka WHD Global) will be held in March this year in Rust, Germany. As usual the event will be the biggest of its kind in Europe.

The organisers behind the event like to bring quirky speakers and performers to their events and this year is no different. However the keynote speaker they’re getting this time round won’t be a human, but an actual robot.

The AI enabled robot is called “Sophia” and if the video is anything to go by shows that science fiction and reality are getting hard to distinguish at times.

“This AI enabled robot, launched in 2015 by Hong Kong -based Hanson Robotics, has been developed to both learn and adapt, possessing visual data processing and voice recognition in order to communicate with humans. Coming equipped with over sixty-plus facial expressions in order to emulate emotions, Sophia has transcended what we have seen to date with regards to AI technology.” (source)
