Porn.net goes under the hammer for $410k

January 24, 2008 by Michele Neylon

One of the more obvious domains to attract an audience today was porn.net. Considering you can't even register porn.ie, I was interested to see how the auction for this domain would fare. With a reserve of $400k the auction could have gone either way, as many of the domains with higher reserves did not find buyers this afternoon. Although there were only two bidders on the … [Read more...] about Porn.net goes under the hammer for $410k

January 24, 2008 by Michele Neylon

Dude.com which had a reserve of $1.1 million has failed to sell at the SnapNames auction. While some observers felt that the name was worth the price tag the bidders this afternoon obviously didn't share that view. DomainFest Live Auction – Day 1

January 23, 2008 by Michele Neylon

DomainFest's first live auction was held today from 4pm onwards in the ballroom.I picked up my paddles after signing the buyer contracts etc., earlier during the day. While I'd listened to several domain auctions online or followed them using the various tools available, today was the first time that I'd actually attended an auction of this kind in person.Domainfest with … [Read more...] about DomainFest Live Auction – Day 1

January 20, 2008 by Michele Neylon

SnapNames have made available the final list of domains for the DomainFest auction. There are a few changes from the initial lists that came as a surprise. To start with all the co.uk and .de domains have vanished from the list.Considering some of the domains that were on that list and the prices that cctld domains have been fetching over the last year, it seems like a very odd … [Read more...] about DomainFest Countdown – More Auction Changes

SnapNames Live Auction – Mac Users Not Welcome

January 19, 2008 by Michele Neylon

Anytime I go to an industry event I find myself surrounded by fellow Mac users. I don't know what proportion they make up, but it's not insignficant. Next week's auctions at DomainFest are being held "live" both online and at the venue. If you want to take part in the online auction and use a Mac SnapNames obviously don't want your business, as the online auction requires … [Read more...] about SnapNames Live Auction – Mac Users Not Welcome

January 12, 2008 by Michele Neylon

As I've mentioned in the past, dotMobi has been running auctions to allocate some of its "premium" names. There was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the last auction which seems to have left a bad taste in some people's mouths. The next auction was originally scheduled to take place on January 23rd, but has now been postponed.According to a post yesterday on the company's … [Read more...] about DotMobi Premium Auction Postponed

DomainFest Domain Auction Preview

January 10, 2008 by Michele Neylon

Adam Strong has provided an interesting insight into the live auction that will be conducted by SnapNames during DomainFest. He features an interview with Mr Domain Industry Insider himself, Jothan Frakes, who currently works with Oversee and is heavily involved in organising DomainFest.I'd predict that the auction will be a much bigger success than the DomainTools auction held … [Read more...] about DomainFest Domain Auction Preview
