ICANN Logo

The .wed TLD could end up getting divorced from ICANN. The .wed domain extension has always been a bit of an odd fish. The people behind it were convinced that their business model was viable and that people would want to register .wed domains in very high volumes. Because of this "demand" the registry's pricing model made it prohibitive to register a .wed domain name for … [Read more...] about Will .wed Get Divorced From ICANN?

November 6, 2017 by Michele Neylon

ICANN 61 is scheduled to be held in Puerto Rico early next year. As most people know, however, the region was very badly hit during recent storms and many parts of the country are still without power, drinking water or internet. June 6, 2017 by Michele Neylon

The full schedule for ICANN 59, the policy forum, which is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from June 26 - 29 has been published. June 3, 2017 by Michele Neylon

Map with pin point of Johannesburg in South Africa

ICANN 59 will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa later this month. In ICANN terms it's what they call a "policy forum", so the focus will be on policy work and the meeting won't have as many of the frills you find at the bigger meetings. For those of us in Europe the timezone difference with South Africa is negligible (1 hour ahead of London / Dublin and on the same … [Read more...] about Heading to ICANN 59? ICANN’s Göran Marby Speaks at WHD.Global in Germany

April 1, 2017 by Michele Neylon

ICANN Logo

ICANN CEO Göran Marby spoke at WHD.Global last week. Traditionally ICANN has not had a strong presence at WHD, so having the CEO and some of his senior staff in attendance last week was a positive move. The challenge for Marby, who also had a fairly early morning slot for his talk, was making ICANN relevant to an audience made up of hosting companies. His keynote runs for … [Read more...] about ICANN’s Göran Marby Speaks at WHD.Global in Germany
