Irish Domain Registry Reporting Growth

The .ie ccTLD has reported strong growth during the 2nd quarter of 2011:

The IEDR’s quarterly registrations report shows that the total number of .ie domains now stands at over 165,000 with a total of 20,995 domains being registered in the period from January to June this year, a 10% increase on the 19,099 domains registered in the same period last year. These new registrations represent an annualised growth rate of 27.4% on the number of domains since the start of the year.

While the press release doesn’t go into details the initiative being backed by Google, Blacknight, An Post and the County and City Enterprise boards is probably helping.
