GoDaddy Suffers Massive Outage

GoDaddy is the world’s largest registrar and hosting provider.

Earlier this evening they suffered a massive outage which appears to be related primarily to their DNS.

However it is unclear if that is the issue and it is also unclear as to what is the cause.

At the moment pretty much every tech blog on the planet, tech journo and tech pundit is pushing out blog posts, tweets and articles based mainly on speculation.

What is known is that the outage was massive and brought down thousands of sites worldwide.

The GoDaddy home page is currently much quieter than normal and is displaying a simple message from their new (interim?) CEO Scott Wagner apologising for the issues:

In a completely unsurprising move several of GoDaddy’s smaller competitors are trying to take advantage of the outage to lure GoDaddy customers away.
