Serbian ccTLD Registry Opens Call For Tender

The .rs ccTLD registry, the country code top level domain name for Serbia, has opened a call for tenders.

The tender, which opened a couple of days ago, is for software systems for domain registration.

While the call for tender may not be explicit, one can assume that the registry is interested in moving closer to the industry standard EPP. A lot of ccTLD registries developed their own APIs over the years which, while functional, make it hard for registrars to integrate with them.

Details of the tender are available on application with tenders being expected by 1st December 2014. As the tender is for software and not an actual service it’ll be interesting to see who will win the bid. Many of the existing ccTLD and gTLD registries offer registry services to others, but there aren’t that many that offer the software as a standalone product.
