More Right-Wing Pushback On IANA Transition [Video]

Doing the rounds at the moment is the video below from a YouTube channel called “Black Pigeon Speaks“.

It’s packed with the usual FUD, but has managed to get over 61 thousand views in the last week.

Watch and listen:

Here’s the transcript of the video with timestamps:

0:00the internet isn’t broken
0:08so why fix it less than six weeks we have less than six weeks until barack
0:14obama in a feat of legislative fiat signs away American custodianship of the
0:20internet and places it in the hands of an international organization possibly
0:24the UN Obama looking to cultivate his global messianic arora at yet again the
0:30expense of the American people has created a make-or-break situation that
0:34unless the Congress moves to block in the internet as we know it could very
0:39well be a thing of the past
0:41should the Obama administration force the handover of the internet from
0:44American protection it will be de facto handing authoritarian regimes the power
0:49they have long sought to censor the web globally including within the u.s. u.s.
0:56control over the internets basic functions have kept the web free for
1:00Americans and the entire world and Obama moves to end this
1:05firstly what exactly is Obama handing over well Obama believes that the
1:09internet being global should have many stakeholders rather than just America
1:14the nation that invented it no matter what Al Gore has to say he believes
1:18access to the Internet is a human right and should be administered by a global
1:22entity the transition will reassure the global community that the u.s. is not
1:27trying to manipulate the internet for its own economic or strategic advantage
1:32according to Cameron carry a fellow at the Brookings Institution and the former
1:36acting Commerce Secretary it’s also to deflate some of the global anger of the
1:40Snowden disclosures he wants America to surrender the root zone file of the
1:45internet or the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and numbers or I can
1:50which translates numerical codes into internet addresses for example you can
1:54type in black pigeon speaks calm and you can go there instead of typing in a
1:59hundred or thousand string of numbers Obama has set October the first as the
2:04date for I can to set itself free from us oversight oversight that has kept the
2:09internet open since the nineteen nineties and why is this a problem
2:13well if the US loses control over i can and should countries like china russia
2:18or iran be able to gain significant control over this new organization their
2:22government interests would allow this organization the ability to censor the
2:26internet in the u.s. much the same way they do in their own the wall street
2:31journal in particular is adamant in its opposition to obama’s unilateral
2:37surrender of American control and is clear that the internet isn’t mr.
2:42Obama’s to give away actually in a bizarre twist of patriotic fervor the
2:47normally globalist Wall Street Journal the heritage foundation and even Bill
2:51Clinton have all taken a decidedly pro-american policy position in fact
2:57Clinton warns that other countries have been trying to take this authority from
3:02the US for the sole purpose of cracking down on internet freedom and limiting it
3:07and having government’s protect their backsides instead of empowering their
3:11people what political capital can be gained from having an america first
3:15policy position has yet to reveal itself however the Clintons never do anything
3:21without political calculations that would make Machiavelli blush the Obama
3:26administration has falsely spun the narrative that the u.s. is role is
3:29largely clerical but this is patently false for the very simple reason that
3:33American control over i can and the root zone of the internet via the Commerce
3:38Department halts Russia China Iran and others from interfering with the
3:44developers and engineers who operate the open Internet at present I can protect
3:49the internet from government intrusion think of how hard it is for law
3:53enforcement to even sees sites that pirate copyright intellectual material
3:58like the recently taken down kickasstorrents instead of shielding the
4:03internet from governments the plan gives government’s new powers authoritarian
4:07regimes will be able to gain greater influence over the ICANN board and for
4:11the first time governments would have a vote on bylaw changes removal aboard and
4:17the budget Obama and his apologist argue that unilaterally surrendering control
4:22over the internet is to support a multi-stakeholder model
4:26of Internet Governance like other such Newspeak gobbledygook buzzwords it
4:30conceals the very real transfer of control of the web from the u.s. to many
4:34other countries companies globalists and even the UN and organization whose
4:39largest voting block the organisation of Islamic Cooperation or the OIC is not
4:46very keen on ideas like the First Amendment this transition would end the
4:52u.s. role as guarantor of internet governance as well it will i rana CLE
4:57fail to ensure American ownership and control of dot mil and dot gov in
5:03perpetuity both of which have been called national assets
5:08however aside from the obvious parallel that the Obama administration is
5:12needlessly creating by surrendering American control over the internet
5:15besides the threats to openness and freedom of speech the transfer of a u.s.
5:20property without congressional oversight is unconstitutional Congress must
5:26authorize the transfers of us property which includes that of the ICANN domain
5:32system and it is worth billions of dollars and this is the catch even if
5:37retro actively sometime in the future the courts rule that mr. Obama’s
5:41unilateral surrender of ICANN violates the separation of power by that time
5:47there will be no ability for recourse as the contract will have been avoided and
5:52gone forever
5:53it would seem in the twilight of his presidency that obama by willingly
5:56handing over the Internet to the adversaries of the United States is
5:59working toward diminishing American power and prestige Obama having
6:04admittedly done very little of note with his presidency and as of late been
6:08hopscotching around the world attempting to build a legacy for himself
6:12well he’s mostly engaged in benign actions such as being the first u.s.
6:16president to visit cuba since Calvin Coolidge did in 1928 or be the first
6:21u.s. president to visit Hiroshima a city devastated by an American atomic attack
6:26however the seating of ICANN is not only perilous for the United States but all
6:32countries that value freedom of speech as well as an open Internet the US has
6:36served the critical role as guarantor against
6:39censorship and threats to the internet thus Obama has now created a situation
6:45where global commerce the dissemination of ideas and the freedom to do so is now
6:51at stake if Obama’s unilateral actions to surrender American control over the
6:56internet do not constitute treason
6:58I do not know what does if Congress does not move to veto this patently on
7:04American and unconstitutional handover of American property as the Constitution
7:10plainly gives commerce power to the Congress then it is equally culpable in
7:16its the basement of the Pax Americana please consider subscribing to this
7:23channel it will be updated regularly
7:31hmm
