Heading to ICANN 59? Get Some Tips From the Local Host

Map with pin point of Johannesburg in South Africa

ICANN 59 will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa later this month. In ICANN terms it’s what they call a “policy forum”, so the focus will be on policy work and the meeting won’t have as many of the frills you find at the bigger meetings.

For those of us in Europe the timezone difference with South Africa is negligible (1 hour ahead of London / Dublin and on the same timezone as Paris), but it still takes almost a full day to get there.

While the ICANN meeting site provides basic logistical information the local host has put together a more comprehensive guide for visitors.

The site gives some practical tips for travellers to the city as well as listings of restaurants, things to do in the city as well as information about tours of South Africa.

You can check it out here. Of course it is using a .joburg domain name!
