Nominations for Nominet Board Elections Open

The nomination period for non-executive directors to the Nominet Board opened yesterday. The Nominet Board is made up of appointees and member elected representatives. The number of positions up for election in any given year tends to vary. This year there are two positions up for election due to members’ terms.

While both Non-Executive Directors could serve another term on the Board James Bladel, from GoDaddy, has made it public that he will not be contesting the seat this time. With GoDaddy’s acquisition of NeuStar there could be a perceived conflict of interest with Bladel sitting on the board of a competing registry. While Nominet might not be very active in the gTLD registry space Neustar / GoDaddy runs the .us ccTLD registry for the US government.

The other person whose seat is up for election this year is that held by David Thornton and at this juncture he has not announced his intentions in public.

While voting in the election is limited to Nominet members only you do not need to be a member to be nominated (or elected).

Nominations are open until September 17th 2021.

Full details of the nomination and election process are outlined here.
