Want to Serve on an ICANN Board or Council?

January 16, 2025 by Michele Neylon

ICANN, in common with several other organisations, uses a number of different methods when choosing people for various boards, councils and committees. One route is via the Nomcom ie. a nominating committee.

This year’s application window is now open and there is a good range of positions open:

  • Three members of the ICANN Board of Directors – these roles are paid
  • One member of the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board of Directors.
  • Three regional representatives to the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) – one each from: the Africa region; the Asia, Australia and Pacific region; and the Latin America and Caribbean region.

The ICANN Board seats are the only ones that have any kind of salary, while the others are purely voluntary.

Full details, including job descriptions and requirements are available here.

Applications close on March 28th.
