Help ICANN Fix Whois Conflicts With Data Privacy Law!

May 23, 2014 by Michele Neylon

ICANN has opened a comment period  in relation to whois conflicts with local law / data privacy law. Of course anytime ICANN, or anyone else, tries to make any changes to whois policy there are issues. Whois is, for a variety of reasons, an emotive subject. One of the areas that Article 29, several registries located in the EU and a number of registrars (including … [Read more...] about Help ICANN Fix Whois Conflicts With Data Privacy Law!

May 16, 2014 by Michele Neylon

OVH, a French registrar and hosting provider, has been sent a breach notice by ICANN. May 9, 2014 by Michele Neylon

Chinese registrar BizCN.com has been hit with a breach notice by ICANN. Small French Registrar Smacked by ICANN Compliance

May 7, 2014 by Michele Neylon

A small French registrar based in Paris has been sent a breach notice by ICANN's compliance team. Mistername appears to be a very small registrar and from what I can gather has less than 100 names on its accreditation (if it has more then I'm obviously looking in the wrong place!). The Mistername site is incredibly rudimentary and seems to consist of only a couple of … [Read more...] about Small French Registrar Smacked by ICANN Compliance

Exclusive: Internet.bs Response to ICANN Breach Notice

March 10, 2014 by Michele Neylon

I posted a couple of days about the breach notice ICANN had sent to Internet.bs. Earlier this evening Internet.bs' CEO Marco Rinaudo reached out to me and asked me to publish a public response to this. For the record I do not know Mr Rinaudo personally, but I think it is only fair to offer him a an opportunity to address this situation in public. Here's his statement … [Read more...] about Exclusive: Internet.bs Response to ICANN Breach Notice

March 8, 2014 by Michele Neylon

ICANN has sent out a number of breach notices to registrars today, however one does spring out - the one sent to Internet.bs. Internet.bs, which is based in the Bahamas, received quite a bit of negative press in the past from the InfoSec community. One article on Ars Technica, for example, called them out as being the registrar of record for a disproportionately high … [Read more...] about ICANN Sends Breach Notice to Internet.bs
