Vietnamese Registrar Gets Slapped By ICANN Compliance

Vietnamese registrar Mat Bao has been issued with a formal breach notice by ICANN Compliance.

The registrar appears to be having pretty serious issues.

They’re not escrowing domain data to Iron Mountain (or anyone else)  even though they’re a relatively new registrar and would have been obliged to do so as soon as they started registering domains.

Add to that their failure to pay ICANN fees, lack of response to the current Compliance audit, failure to provide web based whois or link to the “registrants rights and responsibilities” page on the ICANN site and you’ve got a pretty clear picture of .. well.. misbehaviour?

They’ve got until the middle of January to sort themselves out or ICANN will start the termination process.

You can grab a copy of the letter here.
