ICANN 55 Marrakech Schedule Published

February 15, 2016 by Michele Neylon

The preliminary full schedule for the 55th ICANN public meeting has been published.

The meeting, which is scheduled from March 5 – 10, will be held at the Palmeraie Conference Centre in Marrakech, Morrocco.

ICANN 55 is the first meeting under ICANN’s “future meeting strategy“. The new way of approaching the meetings means that instead of having 3 large meetings per year the organisation will have 3 different types of meeting. Marrakech will be “meeting A”:

The big difference being that instead of having the traditional public forum on Thursday afternoon there will also be a public forum on the Monday afternoon as well.

As can be seen from the full schedule, the meeting will start for a lot of people on Friday, as there is a full day of IANA transition related meetings.

ICANN 55 is also the last meeting with the current CEO, Fadi Chehadé, so there will probably be quite a few references to his departure during the meeting. The newly announced CEO, Göran Marby, who won’t take up office until May at the earliest, will also be in attendance for at least part of the week.

As mentioned previously, attendees can follow the meeting schedule using the official meeting app.
