Coming Soon IEDR Policy Board Elections

The .ie ccTLD has had a formal policy development process for the past few years. There’s now a fairly clear process that can be followed to either modify existing policy or to introduce new ones. You can read more about the policy development process IEDR follows here.

One of the important parts of the entire process is the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) which is made up of representatives from a broad selection of stakeholders drawn from various parts of the Irish Internet and business community.

This year the 4 seats occupied by IE registrars are up for grabs, as their rotation is now due.

Any IEDR registrar who is interested can put themselves forward between now and February 6th.

If you’re interested you’ll need to prepare an election statement:

  • under 400 words long
  • outline your relevant experience and goals
  • refer to the policy / industry topics that you are interested in
  • explain why registrars should vote for you

The registrar seats are currently occupied by:

  • Blacknight Solutions – Michele Neylon (me!)
  • Hosting Ireland – Jonathan Bate
  • Irish Domains – Conor Moran
  • Register 365 – Kelly Salter

I suspect some of us will be seeking re-election.

At present there are around 100 accredited IE registrars.
