Irish Domain Registry Reporting Growth

The .ie ccTLD has reported strong growth during the 2nd quarter of 2011: The IEDR’s quarterly registrations report shows that the total number of .ie domains now stands at over 165,000 with a total of 20,995 domains being registered in the period from January to June this year, a 10% increase on the 19,099 domains registered in the same period last year. AFNIC Chief Happy With Results of New Rules

.Kz Registry Clarifies Position On Nameservers

The .kz registry (Kazakhstan) recently contacted domain registrants informing them that they needed to host their domains "in country". They have since clarified that the rules will only apply to new registrations and not to existing domains. UK Registry Opens Consultation on Registration Periods

Nominet, the registry for the .uk namespace, has opened a consultation on domain name registration periods. At present *.uk domain names can only be registered and renewed for a period of 2 years.
