The nomination period for the election to Nominet's Board has opened. This year the election is for one non-executive director (NED). When Nominet decided to offer "direct' registrations under .uk they made the decision to reserve the right of registration (ROR) for existing *.uk registrants for a 5 year period. The .blog registry informed their registrars earlier today that they're switching their backend to Centralnic from Nominet (There's also a blog post that's public here). The change will probably take place in August, though an exact date hasn't been announced. Nominet has announced the results of their recent board election. This year there were two seats open for non-executive directors who are elected by Nominet members. James Bladel from GoDaddy and David Thornton have both been elected to the board. For Thornton this will be his second term, whereas for Bladel this will be his first term.
