OVH Pulled Up By ICANN Due To Whois Format

OVH, a French registrar and hosting provider, has been sent a breach notice by ICANN.

The registrar had not updated its whois format to be compliant with the 2013 RAA.

So for example, a whois lookup on ovh.net currently returns:

In the letter from ICANN’s Compliance team they identify a number of issues. It sounds like the whois format problem was the one that caused them to start looking more closely at the registrar and when they failed to fix the issue they discovered other areas of non-compliance with the contract. As usual a timeline of ICANN’s attempts to engage with the registrar is included.
