Dreamhost Hit With ICANN Breach Notice

July 3, 2014 by Michele Neylon

Dreamhost is one of the larger webhosting providers out there. The Los Angeles based company was founded back in 1996 and offers Linux hosting exclusively ie. no Microsoft software. According to HosterStats they currently host around 1.3 million domain names.

Earlier this week the company was hit with a breach notice by ICANN’s compliance team.

The breach appears to have been triggered due to whois accuracy issues dating back to April of this year.

As Dreamhost didn’t resolve the problems with ICANN that led to them doing a deeper investigation of the company’s compliance with the contract, so they’re also being pulled up for not posting their domain renewal fees, renewal notice methods and publishing their contact details.

Here’s the notice with all the details:

They’ve got until July 21st 2014 to resolve the issues.
