September 25, 2017 by Michele Neylon

Domain seized by Spanish government

Websites associated with the upcoming referendum in Catalonia are being blocked by ISPs in Spain. UPC’s Filters Continue To Block Pirate Bay

December 18, 2013 by Michele Neylon

The Pirate Bay has been jumping from one domain extension to another over the last few weeks. According to an article over on Torrent Freak, the site has another 70 domains that it could switch to. Here's what I get when I try to visit the site no matter which ccTLD it's using: I'm not sure how other ISPs are implementing the block, but if anyone has a screenshot … [Read more...] about UPC’s Filters Continue To Block Pirate Bay

December 16, 2013 by Michele Neylon

Eircom's efibre logo

Several months ago Eircom, one of Ireland's largest ISPs,  launched a fibre broadband product under the moniker of "eFibre". For some reason, however, they hadn't registered the corresponding domain name. One of their competitors Magnet had and setup a very simple site:   I'm not sure how many people noticed, though I did see a tweet about it at the … [Read more...] about Efibre.ie Transferred to Eircom in Domain Dispute

High Profile DNS Still Vulnerable To Kaminsky Exploit

May 26, 2010 by Michele Neylon

Image via Wikipedia Dan Kaminsky's discovery of a nasty bug in DNS rocked the security world in 2008. It's now 2010, so you would be forgiven for thinking that most DNS servers should have been updated, patched or configured in such a manner as to render the Kaminsky hole null and void. Unfortunately that is not the case. Several medium sized DNS providers, … [Read more...] about High Profile DNS Still Vulnerable To Kaminsky Exploit

Google Launch DNS Service – Open DNS Reply

December 3, 2009 by Michele Neylon

Earlier today Google announced the launch of their new DNS service. They're pushing it as part of their "better experience" and "speed" drive that Matt Cutts and Co have been harping on about for the last while. OpenDNS, however, has been offering a similar service for quite some time. A lot of Irish users were forced to use it earlier this year when Eircom, one of the … [Read more...] about Google Launch DNS Service – Open DNS Reply
