Small French Registrar Smacked by ICANN Compliance

A small French registrar based in Paris has been sent a breach notice by ICANN’s compliance team.

Mistername appears to be a very small registrar and from what I can gather has less than 100 names on its accreditation (if it has more then I’m obviously looking in the wrong place!).

The Mistername site is incredibly rudimentary and seems to consist of only a couple of pages. You can’t register or manage a domain via the site (though they could be using a different website for registration services)

In any case they’ve been hit with a breach notice by ICANN’s Compliance team for a number of reasons:

• Non-payment of fees
• Lack of a functioning whois server
• Lack of information on renewal policies
• Lack of information on renewal pricing
• Failure to escrow registration data

The timeline in the letter shows that there has been some back and forth between ICANN and the registrar, but apparently the registrar hasn’t addressed all the issues identified.
