The controversy over the competing .africa TLD applications has been going on for some time. A recent decision by the International Centre For Dispute Resolution (ICDR) said that ICANN had breached its own by-laws and has questioned why ICANN won’t allow a current board member and the former GAC Chair to speak to them and provide evidence.
A letter that was published on the ICANN site yesterday suggests that ICANN may have changed their tune and will now let Ms Heather Dryden (former GAC Chair) and Mr Cherine Chalaby, who is a current board member and chair of the board’s New gTLD Program Committee (NGPC), speak to the ICDR.
The hearing is scheduled to run over two days – May 22nd and May 23rd at Jones Day’s offices with the two ICANN witnesses and Ms Sophia Bekele providing evidence over a 4 or 5 hour period.
Here’s the letter with the details:

Martin Otsieno says
Michele Neylon There is no evidence that ICANN Board members will be coming. The letter you posed obviously is not from ICANN and does not in any way say those Board members are confirmed to come. You should have clarity in your reporting.
