Fadi Chehadé

ICANN's President and CEO Fadi Chehadé is apparently on Twitter. You'd be forgiven for not knowing, as he's only tweeted once at time of writing: https://twitter.com/icann_president/status/354373185065582592 According to what I can see the account was created on April 21st of this year. However I've generally been supportive of "restricted" TLDs. The Association for Competitive Technology (ACT) has serious concerns about Google's application for .app and want ICANN's board of directors to … [Read more...] about Google’s .App Under Fire

June 21, 2013 by Michele Neylon

ICANN's board of directors is set to approve the new Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) during a "special" board meeting at the end of the month The board meeting agenda for their 27th June meeting includes several "consent" items, but tucked the main agenda items include the 2013 RAA. On the final day of the recent ICANN meeting in Beijing the GAC, which includes representatives from many countries' governments, issued their communique as they do at all ICANN meetings. While the contents of a GAC communique always attracts commentary and reaction, the GAC communique from Beijing has probably provoked more debate, anger and confusion than any … [Read more...] about Making Sense of GAC Advice?

April 24, 2013 by Michele Neylon

ICANN has opened a comment period to get feedback and guidance on the GAC advice from Beijing. The comment period details and some background may be found here.
