What that means is that countries that in reality are quite small end up appearing to be quite big, while some quite large … [Read more...] about Nominet Releases Updated ccTLD Map

Nominet Releases Data on Right of Registration Release

July 10, 2019 by Michele Neylon

When Nominet decided to offer "direct' registrations under .uk they made the decision to reserve the right of registration (ROR) for existing *.uk registrants for a 5 year period. What that meant was that if you had johndoe.co.uk then you had first call on johndoe.uk and you had the right to exercise that "call" for 5 years. Personally while I liked the idea of the "right of … [Read more...] about Nominet Releases Data on Right of Registration Release

Irish Registrants Show Love for European Union

May 22, 2019 by Michele Neylon

I've been writing about the .eu ccTLD for well over a decade. While the extension's popularity in EU member states has ebbed and flowed over the years I don't recall ever noting a registration spike in Ireland. However EURid's Q1 report for 2019 is showing a notable spike in Ireland. Admittedly the spike is percentage based not absolute numbers, yet it's still an … [Read more...] about Irish Registrants Show Love for European Union
